ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Named a Veranda magazine Next Legend in 2021, Heather Chadduck Hillegas is a decorator, textile designer, and photo stylist. She is known for the hospitality of Southern style, blending tradition, comfort, and relaxed elegance to reflect client tastes. Her botanical-inspired fabric collection is sold globally.

Before her own design business, Heather was an editor at Cottage Living, Coastal Living, and Style Director at Southern Living. She began in the 1990s styling for bedding catalogs like Peacock Alley and Neiman Marcus. As an editor, she collaborated with architects and decorators, producing stories and showhouses, including the 2019 Southern Living Idea House on Amelia Island, which she completed in seven months. Her current projects span the South, mid-Atlantic, Indiana, and a Bahamian yacht.

Heather utilizes a vast network of vendors, artisans, and workrooms. Widely published, she joined the Design Leadership Network this year. She lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband, photographer David Hillegas, in their 1920s colonial, featured in House Beautiful. Her limited-edition luxury beach towels for Weezie sold out in Spring ’21, and a home furnishings capsule collection debuts this fall.
